Drawing tablet driver issue with arma 3.
Acknowledged, NormalPublic

Description

When I run arma 3 with my drawing tablet plugged in, after about 15min the game crashes with infamous 'memory cannot be written/read' error.
I can't play my game with the tablet plugged in, I need to unplug my tablet to play. With the tablet unplugged, and I launch arma 3, I played more than 2 missions without an issue. Seems like tablet driver interrupted arma 3 operation. (Honestly I don't know well)

Game Crash
Steps To Reproduce

(Unsure if it's my-tablet-exclusive or occurs on every tablet)

Plug in the tablet with proper drivers installed. (Must be before arma 3's launch)
Launch arma 3, methods of launch and parameters does not matter.
Play arma 3 for about 20 min (doesn't matter how you play, error occurs even if I did nothing)

after 10~20min, the game crashes with 'memory cannot be witten/read' windows error message.

Depending on the version of arma 3 (stable or dev-branch) or methods of launch, the game crashes without the error message.

Additional Information

One interesting fact is: when I plug in the tablet while I'm playing arma 3, I seems to be fine. May be the problem was in initial loading of the game?
I have Wacom's intuos ART Medium size tablet (with Wacom's driver) with win 10 64bit OS (with windows' default tablet driver that runs alongside Wacom's driver). I don't know if it occurs with other tablets, I have only this tablet.
I had no issue between the tablet and other application such as other steam games. Only arma 3 has this issue.

Hi,

I´m not suer if your tablet don´t spend a too much video memory. Try to change your memory allocator to some other or simply unplug it, open Task Manager and close all unnecessary processes in background and restart the computer.

Also, try to verify game cache integrity via Steam and reinstall your GPU drivers.

Try to delete your profile folder (create a backup) a try to start the game.

The file yourprofilename.vars.Arma3Profile must be deleted.

Hi, thanks for replying.

The problem isn't that severe, I just need to unplug the tablet to play. I'm not here to ask for help to my problem (no rudeness intended). I posted this prolem because I think this is problem of arma 3, since I don't have the issue with any other applications, including games. And I think even if it is not worth to fix, I could let people know that the problem is there by posting it here. Cause I know a lot of people frustrated by 'memory' error and it has a lot of causes.

To what I have tried to fix the issue myself(by then I didn't know the problem was tablet):

I tried many, many solutions. Such as clean re-install, run it as admin, check for corrupted files, check for hardwares, changing mallocs, etc. I spent more than 3 days to fix it myself. And i'm confident it's not from corrupted files, outdated drivers, wrong parameters, etc. And my computer it's not even 1 month old, with strong performance (16gb ram, gtx 1070, i7 6700)

Now that I know something's wrong between arma 3 and tablet, and I tried all of other possible solutions, I'm sure it's arma 3's problem.

One more thing to add: among the solutions I tried 'clean booting' as some of windows' support posts says, but I got the same error.
