0xC0000005 - Access Violation in SP & MP Constant Crashing
Reviewed, NormalPublic

Description

Well over the past week I started having numerous problems with Arma. I installed a new gpu over the weekend (r9 390 to a gtx 1070) and when I did this I completely removed the AMD drivers and installed the latest Nvidia drivers. Well seemingly since then I've been getting numerous access violation errors no matter what game mode I play or what I do in game. I have tried everything I can think of short of placing a c4 charge in my pc and hoping for the best. I have uninstalled all anti virus software, checked the integrity of the game cache multiple times, tried older drivers and new ones again, checked windows for problems and so far nothing has worked. I even pulled the 1070 and my RAM and reinstalled in the off chance that may even do anything. I have been scouring the forums and youtube and just cant come up with any useful information. I would imagine it has something to do with my gpu change but I did play for about a day or two with no problems so I am not completely sure. I have my 3 latest crash dumps at the onedrive link as well. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello,

As I expected from your description.
The problem is here nvwgf2um.dll which means that there is some discrepancy in your GPU drivers. Your PC can containt some old AMD drivers remains caused collision with new Nvidia drivers.

Try to reinstall your new GPU again and search for some old remains.

You can try to delete your profile folder (create a backup) a try to start the game.

The file yourprofilename.vars.Arma3Profile must be deleted.
Path: C:\Users\*username*\Documents\Arma 3

Or try this:

0xC0000005 - ACCESS_VIOLATION
This error is very generic. It may be caused by many issues, such as a hardware malfunction, a virus in the computer, but also an error in the game itself. Possible solutions:

  1. Try joining another server, then rejoin the previous one.
  2. Update the graphics card drivers to a newer version.
  3. Rollback the graphics card drivers to an older version.
  4. Check the temperature of your GPUs and CPUs.
  5. Verify the integrity of the game cache using Steam.
  6. Re-install DirectX.
  7. Uninstall the Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable package (x86 version), restart your computer and install the package again (do not use the Repair function).
  8. Run a Windows System File Check tool to repair corrupted system files.
