Please do not add a HUD - the title says it all. DayZ is a unique game because it's that, unique. And one of the reasons it is unique, is because it dosen't have a HUD, it doesn't have a HP counter, it''s dosen't have a little droplet saying you are thirsty. You have to access that stuff, or guess from the "feelings" you have. This is what makes DayZ unique. Please don't add a HUD. I can only speak for myself, but I think this will kill the game for me.
