By the way, I have verified the game cache, updated my GPU and CPU drivers, updated my operating system, and changed the steam "Launch Options" to "-malloc=system ", still not working

Jawsh added a subscriber: Jawsh.Dec 20 2016, 7:38 AM

@tchen2021, try using the default memory allocator by either removing the current parameter (-malloc=system) or replacing it with -malloc=tbb4malloc_bi.

Also try the other possible solutions listed here for 0xC0000005 - ACCESS_VIOLATION.

Allright. I will do these steps. I will reply if the problem persists or if it gets fixed. Thanks!

Hello,

As Jawsh said, try to make steps described in Arma 3 Unusual process exit webpage including DirectX reinstall, set yout memory allocator to default, uninstall Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable a restart your PC. These steps are underlying.
I´ve found C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION code at register 1045A5E0 marked as "unknown module" so try steps described in webpage and sent us how it´s working.

Thanks for your report

@Alwin, I have reinstalled c++ 2013, changed the memory allocator(you meant the launch options right?). I played the game again for about an hour, and the error popped up again. I am going to try reinstalling DirectX. Do you know how to do that? I need help. Thanks for your previous reply.

Hi, @tchen2021

First, try to launch standard Windows update (automatic installation)
Second, visit this page a follow the steps for manual installation described there.

Hope it will help you.

Hey alwin. sorry for the late reply, I was out for winter holiday and was not able to access my desktop PC. I visited your linked page, and it says Directx12(latest one) does not have a standalone package for me to download. I have downloaded the latest windows 10 update, and the error is still there.

Hi,

You can try the last possible solution called All in One Runtimes tool.

  1. Download All in One Runtimes
  2. Repair your Visual C++, Java SE, Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Shockwave Player, Silverlight, DirectX
  3. Restart computer
  4. Launch the game
  5. Uninstall the tool

I am getting multiple results for the app. Do you have a link that I can use to download and install it?

Nevermind. Can I keep the tool? Do I have to uninstall it after restarting?

When you say uninstall the tool do you mean deleting the app ?

@tchen2021

yes, uninstall the tool after repairing but AoR won´t help in all cases. Please visit the page mentioned by me in one of my posts and follow instructions.

your issue were been uploaded to our crash system. Don´t worry.

should I just reinstall the game? i repaired files and Arma still crashes. I remembered to restart the computer.

If I do reinstall the game, is there a way to preserve my singleplayer progress?
Note: I have Arma in the same hard-drive as my OS. Does that matter?
Note2: I played MP in a server for 20 mins, and Arma Crashed as well, same error.

Hi,

you can go to C:\Users\*username*\Documents\Arma 3 and make save the whole folder. Saved game should be preserved after reinstalling Arma 3.

Note 1: If you play Arma 3 through the Steam it´s shouldn´t be wrong.

Error could also occur by one of these causes: firewall, virus, low video memory, bug on the side of MP server or you have some discrepancy in .dll.

You can try to reinstall libraries.

I reinstalled Arma, but the error persists.

@tchen2021

Try to decrease graphic quality or try CCleaner to clean your PC from harmful software and unused files.

Well here are my specs:
I7 6700k
gtx 1080
hyperx savage ddr4 2400mhz

I am pretty sure it is not a hardware problem?
I play other demanding games, such as War Thunder and I max out settings on most games I play...
I deleted the launch option, I got rid of -malloc=tbb4malloc_bi.

You could try to use this solution.

  1. Go to C:\Users\*username*\Documents\Arma 3
  2. Copy all mission files
  3. Delete missions
  4. Return back missions, one by one
  5. Launch the game always after you´ve copied one mission back

or

Try to create another profile. Copy your old saved missions to new profile and try to play.
Hope it will help you.

Ok. I will try to create a new profile. I don't really mind my singleplayer progress anymore(I won't transfer them), as long as my problem is fixed. I will tell you how it goes. Thanks

Alwin, I changed the profile parameters in the launcher to the location inside steam, C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3\Profiles\Users

I searched around, and I found out that the arma profiles are usually stored inside the 'documents' folder. I heard that the documents folders are set to read only. After I changed the location of the profile in the launcher settings, I opened 'properties' of the \Arma 3\Profile folder also had the "read only" box checked. I tried unchecking it, but when I opened the properties again the box seems still to be check. I don't if that matters.

Oh yeah, I created a new profile by the way.

I played the game, this time in the Eden Editor. The error popped up again after 30-40 mins.

@tchen2021

Try switching to and playing on the profiling game branch. After downloading new data verify the integrity of the game cache.

• profiling branch (special performance + profiling build - requires access code: CautionSpecialProfilingAndTestingBranchArma3), alternative download of needed binary possible from Dwarden's dropbox

so I entered the code and checked the profiling build- what do I do with the files I downloaded in the google docs? and what server do I join and how?

Hey Alwin, after the update today, my Arma seems to be running pretty well. I will tell you if I encounter any issues. Thanks for your help all along the way! I really appreciate it.
