Start Arma3.
Check that Arma 3 is in fullscreen exclusive, V-SYNC off.
Go to virtual editor and place a spinning windmill.
Spawn something for the player to stand on infront of it.
Make sure that FPS is within freesync range (i use increased supersampling to lower it)
Watch the jaggies.
Settings i tried that doesnt work.
FPS limiter: Makes no difference in how you get into the freesync "window".
Hardware acceleration in launcher disable / enable.
Refresh-rate matching highest refresh in Arma3.cfg
Starting Arma 3 without using the launcher.
Hello,
could you please try to disable BattlEye integration in Launcher, and start the game through Launcher without BattlEye. Is then FreeSync active or not?
Turning off BattlEye integration does indeed fix the issue!
edit: i might have spoken too soon, investigating
Im terribly sorry and I think im going crazy. I cant get freesync to activate either through arma3.exe or the launcher. I think that windows 10 is playing tricks on me forcing v-sync everytime i alt-tab to test. Im stumped now since freesync works in other games and i cant be the only one with this problem....
Hello jumbo,
I'm afraid that I can't offer you much of a help in this case. But I'll bring this issue to attention of BattlEye developers. Or you can contact them yourself if you want: https://www.battleye.com/support/
Should i create a new ticket concerning that freesync doesnt work at all on my 290? I have no problems in other games.
Refresh in the arma3.cfg is set to match my max freesync rate and i use a simple windmill in virtual map in the editor to check.
Ive tried to disable hardware acceleration in the launcher incase that interferes.
The only thing that removes the tearing is windowed or vsync on, both which add latency.
Would be great to find out if anyone else has the same problem...
I edited the ticket first to avoid confusion.
Just noticed that setting v-sync ingame disables Crimson framerate target control, if this might be related.
FRTC on 120fps on 144hz monitor and vsync off = fps locked to 120 (and crazy tearing even with freesync on)
vsync on expected behavior = fps locked to 72 (if freesync doesnt work) / stay under 120 (If sync works)
Insted fps jumps to 144 with vsync on, its kinda wierd.
I went back to WHQL-Win10-64Bit-Radeon-Software-Crimson-16.10.1 and Freesync works again.
