When running with a pistol in my hands I am slower than my friends holding a rifle. For me this makes no sense since a rifle is much heavier than a small pistol.

The weapon you are carrying is not the only thing that is checked when calculating your speed... Thinks like Energy and Hydration and your 'stamina' do play a role in the calculation...
BUT, can you note the guns you were talking about?
BTW: Soon the total weight of your characters gear will also be taken in count. (as far as I know) this is not implemented yet :)
