I change the name of an active "Arma 3 - Other Profiles", each time the game is started
the old username is created again (with default settings) and is selected as default
Each time I have to enter profile selector and switch back to the correct user.
I have also deleted the user name folder, it is created again
change name of other profile, restart game, new profile is created and selected with old profile name

how exactly did you change the name of the profile? Did you do it in game or you renamed files or folders in the Arma 3 or Arma 3 - Other Profiles?

I change the name in-game, yesterday the old name was back as a new profile every time I started arma
but today it now works as expected the computer has been switch of during both nights
I tried to reproduce by changing name back and forth but I do not manage to get the fault again
The old name had an '<' in the name and I did notice some file with name was in the profile folder.
But even after I had removed profile files it was created again, I do not know if there could be some
cloud sync thing or something (but arma is not indicated to use that in steam)
but now it works and I do not manage to get the behavior back (so far at least)
Could be that the Profile under Parameters->Favorites had the old name set?
I noticed it now, the tick box enable but now the selection is blank
I do not know what it previous was but the list also contains one of my test
name during renaming test but that has been deleted
and when I select the deleted name, a new profile is created when game is started
something fishy must have happen, the old name was somehow still in list
and each time I started arma the profile was created.
