Description

My game has been freezing upon booting to the main menu ever since the Apex update was installed.

The game successfully loads the launcher, boots up to the splash screen, etc. As soon as the main menu appears, the problems begin. Everything seems to work for about 5 - 10 seconds: my mouse moves, submenus function, and so on. After this, the sound cuts out and the game becomes unresponsive. I still get some, stuttering mouse movement for a short period afterward, but the game interface is completely unresponsive.

This has not been 'graceful' freezing - my computer becomes totally unresponsive, and Ctrl-Alt-Del doesn't work. I have to do a hard reset every time.

Steps To Reproduce

It's as simple as pressing 'Play' on the game launcher, and waiting for the main menu.

This has happened for about the last 9 out of 10 times I've tried to start the game. I did manage to get the game running at one point, reasons unknown, and was able to play for a full two hours without incident, but when I booted it up the next day, it froze again.

Additional Information

I've owned the game for a number of years, and I've successfully played a number of times previous to the Apex update, so I'm reasonably confident that my hardware is not to blame here.

For reference, I'm running Windows 8.1 on an AMD FX-8320 CPU, with a ASUS Radeon R9 380 GPU. I had a few mods installed previously, which have now been removed.

So far, I've tried removing all mods, verifying the Steam cache, updating my graphics drivers and I just did a complete re-install of the game. None of these seem to have yielded any improvement.

thank you for the feedback. Could you please try to enable the world parameter in the launcher and use Empty option?
Once you do, please try to run the game and let me know if that has helped.

Oh my god! Almost same probrem to mine !

My rig is same as reporter FX-8320 and Radeon R9 380 Windows 10 64 bit.

My probrem is , Always I starting any mission, after 10~20 seconds mission start ,game freeze 20~30 seconds. after that normally i can play

Thanks for taking a look at this.

I just booted the game with the World - Empty parameter set. Unfortunately, the game still froze after about 10 seconds on the main menu, as before.
