Controlling fighters with mouse is usually better than keyboard while attacking. However when using targeting pods for CAS, the mouse is set to control the orientation of the pod instead of the plane, which is inconvenient for aiming at ground targets. As the orientation of targeting pod could also be controlled by numpad, I suggest to implement an option to control plane with mouse while using targeting pod.
