The switching of double carried primaries by pressing the hotbarbutton of the gun on the back, released in 0.60, worked fine all experimental for me. On stable it deleted the gun in my hand after a few tries. Not sure if bad luck or something changed.

Put gun on back
Take other gun in hands
Drag gun on back on hotbar
Press hotbar button
Weapon should switch without u having to drop it on the ground
