I have both of these graphical issues as well. I have a R9 290 and I also had the white dots on pine trees in earlier patches of DayZ and Arma 2. I think this is just a graphical issue with the R9 290/R9 290x. Also, if you turn off Alpha to coverage settings it gets rid of the blue patches in pine trees (at least for me).
