Brightness & Gamma Settings
New, NormalPublic

Description

The Gamma and Brightness settings still dont work in 0.61 experimental.

I have found that upon the release of the initial 0.60 experimental build and recent 0.60 patch both my brightness and gamma settings are not adjustable in game.

I have also found that upon switching back to 0.59 stable these settings are not adjustable in game either.

As a result the apparent default settings of brightness and gamma result in a nighttime that I find to be too bright.

With the latest patch I asked a streamer on Twitch whether they could adjust these settings. Thankfully they complied with my request and were able to adjust the gamma with visible results indicated that they were working but did comment that they were disabled if you were in Windowed mode. To test this they tried to adjust in windowed mode which did not work.

I have tried

  • uninstalling the game completely and reinstalling: Did not work
  • Deleted the Dayz folder to refresh the config files: Did not work
  • Manually manipulate the gamma and brightness settings within the Dayzprofile file: Did not work
  • Calibrate my laptop monitor to adjust gamma: Did not work
  • I checked my config file to see if the Windowed command line was set to '0' which is was: This did not resolve the issue.
  • I manually set windowed mode = 1 in config file to see if the inverse would work and checked whether i could adjust settings: Did not work (as expected).
  • Recently I have tried the suggested Alt-Tab in and out of the game to fix the gamma issue while in full screen - This does not work for me

Found solution to this problem unrelated to DayZ.

@StephenHarper Is there a chance you could share the information for fellow DayZ players who might encounter the same issue?

For sure.

For me this issue was related to how i had setup the various graphics functions for my video card using the Nvidia Control Panel.

In the Nvidia Control Panel/Manage 3D settings for DayZ.exe my Anti-aliasing - Gamma Correction was set to "off". Once i enabled it, the in game Gamma/Brightness functionality worked perfectly.

Because I had set all of the other "anti-aliasing functions in the manager to "application controlled" i thought that this would have been the same once the Gamma Correction was disabled.

Anyways this worked for me and perhaps for a few others.

Good Luck
