Mouse doesn't move camera appropriately.
Acknowledged, WishlistPublic

Description

Mouse left, right, up, and down all move the camera down and to the right. In third person view the camera points directly down and spins left or right but can zoom in and out.

EDIT: After switching to dev branch and a few updates not sure when as I hadn't launched it for a few, the mouse now moves up and to the right instead of down and to the right.

Additional Information

I'm not entirely sure this is a bug and can't find any way to rebind mouse movement.

I have tried this with three different mice.

I am glad I don't have that problem. Try remapping the keys.

I can remap keys but I'm not sure how to remap mouse movement. If you can tell me how I'll give it a go.

Never mine thought there was cursor key-sets. You can always use WASD and the arrow keys.

yeah and I do, but I would like to be able to use the third person camera too.

Hi, do you have a joystick or any sort of controller plugged in? If so, try to unplug them, then start the game and see if it occurs.

In general it should literally take input from hte mouse, so that this kind of issue is occurring is very strange.

No joystick or controller. On first launch of the game I had only an external HDD and a mouse plugged in. I am playing on a laptop and have tried the touchpad mouse and 3 other usb mice, all had the same results. Being that I have steam on a different drive than C I did try to move the game to C and continued to have the same mouse issue. Steam gets weird sometimes lol.

Yes very strange issue, never had anything like this occur. The mouse cursor works fine in game as well as outside of the game and in every other game I've played.

So a week or so back I switched to the dev branch thinking maybe that might do something however no luck. Today though after an update instead of my mouse movement going down and to the right, it is for some reason now going up and to the right. Not sure what changed. As always I still have no gamepad or joystick plugged in at all.

Just a thought.. Are you one of the people running the game in Windows 98 compatibility mode? If so, this is why the mouse is causing problems. I have a report of this added to Bug ID 0000290

Yes I am having to run Win98 compatibility mode. Great job locating the cause! Now we just need to get it to launch without compatibility mode. Thanks for the help!

It could be that you don't have the right Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable installed. That would be the only thing I could think of that would cause this problem.

Which problem? The mouse problem or the having to launch in Win98 compatibility mode problem? How would I know which Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable I have or need? Wouldn't the correct one just be installed with the game?

The launching in Win98 compatibility mode problem.

I don't think this game installed anything, usually games on steam come with a Redist folder located {DRIVE}:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\{GAME}\Redist which contains the files needed for the game to run. This game only comes with DirectX. If you want I can give you a list one Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable I have installed on my computer and you can download them from Microsoft to see if this fixes the problem.

Sure I'll give it a go.

Interesting regarding the VC++ redist. Please try it. I was actually unaware people had to run the game in win98 compatibility, I hope the resit works and solves this issue.

I'm not sure what redistributable I'm suppose to install. I did try to install a couple kind of just guessing but no fix. I'm still unable to launch without win 98 compatibility mode and the mouse/camera issue still persists.

I'm waiting to play this game until I can use the camera appropriately haha.

Here are the Microsoft Visual C++ redist I have installed. My game works normally. So for you guys running in win 98 try to install these to see if it fixes it. http://tinypic.com/r/245fqlh/5

Looks like I have all those installed except for one.

microsoft visual c++ 2012 redistributable (x86) - 11.0.50727 is what your pic shows.

microsoft visual c++ 2012 redistributable (x86) - 11.0.51106 is what I have.

The rest of those I have installed.

After all this time there is still no change to this issue. I have tried editing and deleting the ccsettings.xml because when I try to launch it without Win98 Compatibility mode I get the error that its empty. I have tried changing the directory of the game. I have tried the Microsoft Visual redist as suggested. None of the solutions are fixing this problem. I have not even played this game yet due to this issue.

Now I am on an entirely new system and continue to experience the same issue.

Is this issue going to be fixed? Or should I just try to painstakingly push through the game despite the horrid camera control?
