The official Server " DayZ NL 2-7 " is extremely bugging.
It's like the the server has it's own hive, even if it's public.
So you loot on public, e.g. " DayZ UK 2-5 " and then you switch to " DayZ NL 2-7 " you have a new character, like a reset .. BUT your public char is not gone. IF you switch back to any other normal public server your normal character is loaded. And every time you join this " DayZ NL 2-7 " Server, you get a new character, but only on this server

Could you try to double check please? When I log on to the server, my "public 1st/3rd Person" character loads as intended.

Well, I experienced the same as you did..
However, this seems to be in a relationship with the loot respawn because there was a loot explosion.
As it worked again, it was gone but when I looted the officers barrack, there was no respawn at all and the next day the server was bugging again.
As a conclusion I would say it happens when there is a loot explosion
