Catastrophic Crash/Freeze
Need More Info, WishlistPublic

Description

I've had this happen twice on 0.57, it happened once before but it was a long time ago, maybe like 0.50 or something.

I'll describe it as best I can, its happened once while driving and once just after I killed another player (a truck was nearby and had driven it just minutes before) everything is normal, no lagging or anything like that and then suddenly the screen goes blue, like the base color of the sky in DayZ, a smokey blue, I can still hear ambient sounds and I can still hear people in my teamspeak but I can't do anything, I cannot Alt+Tab, Ctrl+Alt+Del, Ctrl+Shift+Exit, the only thing I can do is restart my PC. This only happens on DayZ and it doesn't seem to have any reason for happening, it doesn't happen under heavy load or anything like that, it happened once outside of Kamyshovo and once outside of Vyborg.

Hi,

To begin with, could you provide us with a dxdiag report and crash dumps please?

Getting your DxDiag file:

  1. Open the Start menu
  2. Write "dxdiag"
  3. Press enter
  4. A window will open
  5. Click "Save all information"
  6. You will get a text file - that's what we need

Getting your crash dumps:

  1. Launch Steam.
  2. Right click on DayZ.
  3. Go to "Properties".
  4. Go to "Set Launch Options".
  5. Type in "-dologs" (without quotation marks).
  6. Click ok and launch DayZ.
  7. Reproduce the crash.
  8. Go to this file location: "C:\Users\<Name>\AppData\Local"
  9. There you should see a DayZ folder.
  10. Create a .zip or .rar file of that folder.

Then take the .zip/.rar and the DxDiag file and upload them to your ticket. The upload limit is 5000KB, which should be enough. In case it is not, please upload the files to a file sharing website and post a link to the files in the comments.

Thanks,
JStewart
