When already carrying a child's backpack I crafted an improvised courier pack, followed by the improvised backpack. The burlap was in hand when I combined it with the rope still on ground. After applying a stick I began to transferred all of my items from the child's backpack to the improvised backpack then proceeded to swap them out. The improvised backpack vanished from the ground and didn't appear on the player model. Instead it was listed as another article of clothing and acted as a second backpack. I ran about the area before tossing off the original empty child's backpack upon the ground. It didn't appear at my feet but at the location I had crafted and swapped out the first improvised backpack. No items were lost and I can't assume the second backpack was on my person.
