If this happens you can drag the item into your hands then click the red x to make it go in the empty space.

Steps To Reproduce

If any item fails to go into your inventory by either dragging and dropping or double clicking
Drag said item into hands (dont have anything in your hands)
Click red X to make it go into the empty space in your inventory

Additional Information

This doesnt work with clothes. However, shuffling the clothes around in and out of other clothes on the ground usually makes it work.
