Stalking a deer, when I got closer I saw that it was running but not moving at all,it stayed in the exact same spot unlike a similar report I read where the deer was running in circles.

I walked close to the deer and shot it in the head 3 times and once in the body with a .22 rifle, it did not move position but continued to run on the spot. To save ammo I switched to a sledgehammer and got closer whereupon it moved a few metres and stopped, each time I got close it would move a few metres. I approached but stayed a little further back and swung the sled and killed it.

This is the second time I have seen this, the first time I had no weapon to use so ran on by.
