Infrequent but crippling graphics issues (under hardware because I assume it is a compatability issue as friends do not have)
Reviewed, WishlistPublic

Description

The best way to describe the issue is to reference the graphics bug that affected barbed wire in arma2 and for a short period the corpses of army men that were placed around military areas like balota and the NWAF.

Basically large polygons (not static) of solid colour or black will fire at my screen out of objects, players, buildings. There is something weird happening with the rendering as these polygons will do strange things. For example experiencing it at night will cause a visible gamma shift similar to when a player looks into a light source and loses night vision. {F31067}

Steps To Reproduce

Completely random. Sometimes I will log in and not experience anything for an hour or two then moving to a new town I will see them. Sometimes a player logging in will cause it and it will be attached to them.

WORKAROUND: To workaround this I can sometimes purge them by looking at the ground and turning vsync on and off. Vsync's status is not relevant as the issues persist with it on and off but cycling it seems to reload the scene and it will sometimes load without errors. I can sometimes play for a few hours and never experience the errors, other times I can not get rid of them and I have to stop playing.

NOTE: This has been an issue since launch and has persisted across re-installs, gxd river updates, game updates, ect.

Hello Shagohad,

To begin with, could you provide us with a dxdiag report please?

  1. Open the Start menu
  2. Write "dxdiag"
  3. Press enter
  4. A window will open
  5. Click "Save all information"
  6. You will get a text file - that's what we need

Thanks,
JStewart

Hi Stewart,

uploaded the dxdiag as requested, let me know if you need anything else.

Cheers

Hmm, something seems to have gone wrong. There doesn't really seem to be any real data/text in the file that you uploaded.

Could you try doing the same steps again please?

have a look here: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=21947
and here (original): http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=17013

I assume Shagohad is talking about the same issue.

For some reason I suddenly get the exact same weird error in Arma 2 OA and therefor I think it has something to do with either BattleEye or old Arma engine suddenly just starts to produce this error randomly.

Please read the first link where I describe what can not be the cause of it :)

I also posted my testing results in the 'notes' from the original ticket (second link, scroll way down)

good hunt! :)

Bugs still appear for me after 1 minute of gameplay or even when i log in can't even play.

Hi Stewart I have uploaded another dxdiag, on my PC this one is readable.

Cheers

Thanks. All seems fine regarding your drivers and such. Do you by any chance have any launch parameters active for DayZ?

Hi Stewart, nope no launch parameters, it may be worth mentioning I sometimes get a similar texture bug whilst playing company of heroes 2 (though not with any other games)

I feel like it is a hardware issue somewhere at the bottom of this

I feel like it has something to do with memory allocation:
https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA_2:_Custom_Memory_Allocator

Someone also suggested to deactivate "multi threading" in NVIDIA options (it's on "auto" by default) but it did not help me.

We would have some trouble reproducing this particular issue, but have you been in contact with nvidia's support (https://forums.geforce.com) and enquire if they know of similar issues in these games?
