Can't launch game after .53 update
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Before the update I was able to launch the game normally, but now I get this error message: http://imgur.com/hl6Uu6h

I've tried:

  • veryfying cache in Steam
  • running Steam & DayZ as administrator
  • reinstalling the game
  • uninstalling DayZ and deleting everything from the registry, documents and %appdata% that has something to do with DayZ or Battleye
  • reinstalling after that again

Hello Stormy,

Sorry to hear about your trouble. Usually, when you receive this error message, DayZ crashes. Would it be possible for you to attach a dxdiag report and crash dump files to your ticket please?

Getting your DxDiag file:

  1. Open the Start menu
  2. Write "dxdiag"
  3. Press enter
  4. A window will open
  5. Click "Save all information"
  6. You will get a text file - that's what we need

Getting your crash dumps:

  1. Go to this file location: "C:\Users\<Name>\AppData\Local"
  2. There you should see a DayZ folder.
  3. Create a .zip or .rar file of that folder.

Then take the .zip/.rar and the DxDiag file and upload them to your ticket. The upload limit is 5000KB, which should be enough. In case it is not, please upload the files to a file sharing website and post a link to the files in the comments.

Regards,
JStewart

They are already in the support ticket. Link to appdata folder in google drive, and dxdiag.txt is attached.

EDIT: Running Memtest86 at the moment on my PC, and 1 error found so far. Gonna let it run overnight, and try to figure out if I can RMA the sticks. Read on some forum that these kinds of problems might be related to faulty RAM sticks.

By following the link, I only got your dxdiag.txt file.

Just to confirm; did you set the
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DayZ\DayZ.exe"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DayZ\DayZ_BE.exe" and
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe"
to run as administrator?

Also, could you try the following steps please:

  1. Download and install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/search/result.aspx?q=vcredist%202010&form=DLC
  2. Restart your pc.
  3. Download and install Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/search/result.aspx?q=vcredist%202013&form=DLC
  4. Restart your pc.
  5. Launch DayZ (run both Steam and DayZ as administrator if needed).

Oh yeah, sorry my bad. Here is the right link for the appdata folder:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwJbX4TPBDD6Zm1fVUFsenZYMWs/view?usp=sharing

And yes, they were all set to "Run as Administrator". Reinstalling those C++ redistributables didn't help either.

Thanks. I checked, but there does not seem to be any recent crash dumps in the files.

Did you set the executables to run as administrator via the file properties, or did you just right click and select the "Run as administrator" option from there?

Could you check your user account type in windows as well please:

  1. Go to "Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts".
  2. Check if your account type is Administrator.

I set them to run as admin via properties. And yes, my account type is Administrator.

Seems like I've found a temporary solution for my problem. Managed to launch my game today by first manually starting "BEService.exe" and "BEService_x64.exe" in "E:\Program files\Steam\steamapps\common\DayZ\BattlEye" and then launching the game from "E:\Program files\Steam\steamapps\common\DayZ". If I try to launch it via Steam I still get the error every time so that's why I'm calling it a temporary solution. Would be nice to get this fixed soon since I usually get disconnected from every server after 15-20 minutes for some reason.

EDIT: Well seems like the game itself is working but the main problem is Battleye atm. The game crashes when I try to join any servers and opens cmd (http://i.imgur.com/W36gxiQ.png). I tried launching Battleye via cmd, like it tells me to do, but then I get the original error message (http://imgur.com/hl6Uu6h). I also tried downloading the BEClient.dll from their own website but no luck with that either.

EDIT2: I think I've succesfully narrowed down the problem to my Battleye service constantly crashing. I just tried starting it manually from task manager and I was able to log into a server and run around for about 10 seconds. After that game crashed and BEService was stopped in task manager. Though, if I start it and just let it run by itself (without starting DayZ) it doesn't stop.

Thanks for the feedback on the issue. If it is in fact BattlEye that keeps crashing, then I would recommend that you contact their support in order to figure out what makes the BE client crash: [email protected]
