Hello,

After that, I would recommend that you try out the following suggestions:

  1. Launch Steam.
  2. Right click on DayZ.
  3. Go to Properties.
  4. Go to Set Launch Options.
  5. Type in "-window" (without quotation marks).
  6. Click ok and launch dayz.

If that doesn't solve your problem, you can try out the following:

  1. Launch Steam.
  2. Right click on DayZ.
  3. Go to Properties.
  4. Go to local files.
  5. Click on browse local files.
  6. Go into the folders _CommonRedist > DirectX > Jun2010.
  7. Run DXSETUP.exe
  8. Launch dayz after the setup is complete.

Another possible culprit could be an anti-virus/scanner or firewall that prevents DayZ from launching.

JStewart

Hi There !

We just tested everything that you wrote us here - No chance ...
Still the same Problem - Expect : Launching Dayz over steam folder , error comes up - Launching DayZ over Steam : no error , no screen , like nothing happens ... It says for him , that Dayz is launching , after some seconds , it is closing again without any error ...
Other Ideas ? What is that even for a error ? I have read that other people got the same Problem , but nobody foudn a real solution that is working for my friend ...

Try this:

  1. Go to the steam map (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam) (if you're using win 7 64 b)
  2. Delete the appcache folder
  3. Restart your pc
  4. start DayZ trough steam.

It worked for me.

Hi again !

Still nothing ...

Any other Ideas?!

Its kinda fucking up ( sry ) not to be able to play ...

Could you try out the following steps where a restart of the pc has been added:

  1. Launch Steam.
  2. Right click on DayZ.
  3. Go to Properties.
  4. Go to local files.
  5. Click on browse local files.
  6. Go into the folders _CommonRedist > DirectX > Jun2010.
  7. Run DXSETUP.exe
  8. Restart your pc.
  9. Launch dayz after the setup is complete.

Alternatively, try the following:

  1. Reboot the pc in safe mode.
  2. Uninstall DayZ and Steam.
  3. Manually delete the "C:\Users\<username>\Documents\DayZ", the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\appcache" and the "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\DayZ" folders.
  4. Reboot the pc.
  5. Reinstall DayZ and Steam.
  6. Try to launch DayZ.

We are going to try this now !
Going to post , if it worked , thanks for fast response

Still not working ...

What is this for a crap ?!

Please try to manually download and install the vc redistributables directly from Microsoft.

  1. Download and install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/search/result.aspx?q=vcredist%202010&form=DLC
  2. Restart your pc.
  3. Download and install Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/search/result.aspx?q=vcredist%202013&form=DLC
  4. Restart your pc.
  5. Launch DayZ (run both Steam and DayZ as administrator if needed).

THANK YOU !

My friend is so happy right now :)

Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 was already installed , Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 as well , but he just "repaired" them ( clicked on repair button ) and everything works fine for him now !!
