Basically you cannot fold up your baton and compass and other items when the item is in your inventory. However there is a fix for this but can be annoying to repeat.

- Get a telescopic baton. Or compass.
- Open and close it while holding it your hands or having it in your inventory.
3.The item should not be folded up when having it on you.

Ways to fix this, is by dropping it seen in the video link below, although this can annoying, other items such as clothing getting wet have the same issue, that you need to drop the item on the floor for it to be reconized as dry, or fixed when sewing.
