This would be very cool to be able to play at least 2 different characters.
I play with some friends but I would like also to play alone with a different character, doing this I could play without waiting for my friends.

What you are asking for is already possible.
I'll list your options.
#1: Play solo in Hardcore mode. Your character will be saved to the Hardcore (1st person) hive and you will still have your 3rd person character saved to the 3rd person hive.
#2: Opt into experimental. It is a quick download and you will not lose any character data from public branch hives. You will then have the option to start two new character in each hive type. Hardcore and 3rd person.
With the two options listed you can have 4 different characters all at once and there is still one more option.
#3: Join private hive servers. Weather or not a private hive is on Hardcore or not your character data for that specific private hive will only be save to that particular server. This opens the door for dozens of different characters but it is not such a good option as you may end up getting kicked at random or find nobody using the server.

Unfortunately, this will not be an option on the same hive+mode as it is. However, as mentioned above, there are suggestions on how to have multiple character via other options.
