Private Shard rules/ player count options
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The Private Shard rules were released not long a go, and that I have wanted to rent a Private Shard since release, I am really excited. I want to rent one so I can play with some friends and have a bit of a safe haven I can play on so I can do what I want and also find bugs without the fear of bandits and such. We have our ways of having fun and this is one of them, I hope we can respect this.

The problem I face is that in the rules, the player count is between 30 and 40... most likely meaning that when I go to buy a server, I'll have to pay for around 3x the slots I want, resulting in the cost being 3x more. I, and a possibility many others would like to have the option to have their own private shard server and not have to pay for a quantity of slots which will never be used.

I understand that current server providers have to be able to supply something like, 300x50 player servers (source DayzTv) - which means that the renting of smaller servers can be a problem, however as there are no other ways to actually play the game privately then server providers should be able to provide smaller servers.

I also understand this is an alpha, and this will possibly change in the future, however with smaller private shards then (with the right, responsible people) bugs will be able to be found and reproduced in safer environments without interruptions such as bandits.

Hopefully this will be looked into, I am really excited for Private Shards. REALLY EXCITED.

Thank you.

Hello ChaplinLIVE,

Thanks for contacting us regarding renting a private server. Your feedback on this has been noted and will be considered. Unfortunately though, I wouldn't be able to say if/when/how the hosting rules will change in the future. However, please feel free to follow future announcements on the forums (http://forums.dayzgame.com/) for any change to the current status quo on renting servers.

Regards,
JStewart
