Can't get pass loading screen.
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I hit default while I was on the video tab under options and my game when totally black. I would hear me move but when I tried to open the options menu again I couldn't see it along with everything else. I exited the game and started it up again and now it won't go pass the loading screen and my cursor is huge. Rebooted my computer and steam and it's still not working.

Hi Killslim,

Sorry to hear about your trouble. What is your desktop resolution?

Regards,
JStewart

My desktop resolution is 1920 x 1080. I think changing the game resolution would help but I can't get pass the loading screen to change it.

The red bar stops right before being fully loaded but I can hear the nature in the background and when I move my mouse around I can here it hovering over the options.

I'm not sure If me offering a solution would be frowned upon or welcomed, but I know it's frustrating when waiting for a reply with these sorts of things as well as those trying to help having lots of reports to deal with. So I'll offer it anyways and see if it helps. Feel free to ignore it though Killslim :D
I would suggest
Close down the game.
Go into your documents: Windows button>documents>dayz and then delete the DayZ.cfg file. Then when you restart the game, the cfg file will renew itself and all settings will be at bare minimum when u go back into game. When in game go to configure, video,USER INTERFACE. Change the resolution to the one u want. Adjust the other 2 also if needed. Then go back to the other video settings and adjust all your settings like shadows.. textures and on and on to what you want. Then CLOSE the game again. Restart it and then go back into configure,video, and there change the resolution on that part also to the one u want. Hopefully that will fix it and you'll get the resolution you want.

Just remember the steps about first changing resolution in the user interface section first, restarting and then after that changing the resolution settings on just the Video settings page. I say this because on one of my pc's I play it on I also had a problem with it. This is the only way i found to fix it. Best of luck and I hope it helps. If not then Soz :D

In case the suggestion provided by EvaDJ did not solve the problem, then try pasting the following text into your DayZ.cfg file:

language="English";
adapter=-1;
3D_Performance=93750;
Resolution_Bpp=32;
Resolution_W=1280;
Resolution_H=720;
winX=16;
winY=32;
winW=800;
winH=600;
winDefW=800;
winDefH=600;
refresh=60;
Render_W=1280;
Render_H=720;
FSAA=2;
postFX=4;
GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1000;
GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=2;
HDRPrecision=8;
lastDeviceId="";
localVRAM=2082140160;
nonlocalVRAM=2147483647;
vsync=1;
ssaoEnabled=0;
AToC=0;
SWLayersCount=64;
PipQuality=0;
PPAA=0;
Windowed=0;

This should give you a 1280x720 UI and rendering resolution. You can find your DayZ.cfg file in your "C:\Users\<username>\Documents\DayZ" folder.

Thanks for the help guys. I am currently in a server playing!

:D sweet... Happy gaming, have fun!

That's good to hear :) In case you encounter any further problems, please feel free to open up a new ticket in the Feedback Tracker.
