Config resets and BattleEye initialization failed
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The issue is started after I uptaded DayZ for experimental. When I tried to open the game, my whole config was reset and screen resolution went to like 600x400 which made it unplayable. Now each time I open the game, settings reset and whether I change them or no, I can't connect to any server beacuse BattleEye doesnt work.(window with agreement pops up and I press Agree each time but I only get the message: "BattleEye initialization failed")
I tried to:
-reinstall the game
-download BattleEye client from off-site
-make config files "Read-Only"
-verifying game cache
-installing DXSETUP from inside the game

Even after I changed back to stable version and with official 0.49 update too, issue occured.
Please, help.

Hi angry_cossack,

Sorry to hear about your trouble. For the BattlEye error messages/problems I would advise that you contact BattlEye directly. In order to contact BattlEye, you can use the following information:

support@battleye.com
http://www.battleye.com/support.html

In regards to your problem with your configuration; would it be possible for you to attach a copy of your DayZ.cfg file? The file is located in the "C:\users\<username>\Documents\DayZ".

Regards,

JStewart

Please, review^^

None of the files are the dayz.cfg file. Is the dayz.cfg file not present in your "C:\users\<username>\Documents\DayZ" folder?

Seems like it isnt there.

I was kinda googleing the problem myself and downloaded default .cfg file but it didnt work.

What is your native resolution?

Very good. So, I have uploaded a copy of a DayZ.cfg file where the UI resolution as well as the rendering resolution has been set to 1600x900. I had to name it DayZ.txt or else I couldn't upload it. However, please try to download the file (DayZ.txt), then rename it DayZ.cfg and finally put it in your "C:\users\<username>\Documents\DayZ" folder.

The question may sound dumb, but how do I download the file? ._.

In case you don't have access to download the file, I'll just post the contents of the file here:

Please create a text file in your "C:\users\<username>\Documents\DayZ" folder and name it "DayZ.cfg". Then, copy the text above and paste it in the DayZ.cfg file that you created and see what happens once you start the game.

That didnt help either.
The problem seems to me that Game neither open config file nor save changes.

Could you try to perform a search for any other "DayZ.cfg" files on your pc? Also, do you have admin rights on your pc?

Nothing was found by searching it. And yes, I do.

Do you have any other "DayZ" folders on your pc other than the ones in your "Documents" folder and the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common" folder?

C:\Users\USERACC\AppData\Local\DayZ
And AppData folder is hidden by default.

That's as it should be. Is the contents of your Documents folder stored locally on your pc or is it stored on a domain/server?

It is stored locally, I am sure of that. C:/...

Ok, I managed to fix it =)The funny thing is, I was also trying to solve my other's game issue (it wouldnt save my progress) and the problem is in user account. So, I created another one which in NOT administrator and it worked for both games!! xD
Anuways, thank you for your effort, it took me 3 weeks to find the solution and you were trying to help me very hard. I apreciate it a lot!
Wish you goodluck(and raise in career), sir :3

That's good to hear. Thanks for the heads up and thanks for the kind words :) In case you encounter any further problems, please feel free to open up a new issue in the Feedback Tracker.

JStewart
