Idea: Why not copy and paste some cool features from the Mod to SA?
New, WishlistPublic

Description

Hello,

The mod has some pretty cool features, i.e; Throwing/physics, and Zombie AI.

In the mod the throwing is so smooth, and the zombies AI is more fluid and easier to deal with, beside the fact they follow you non-stop until you hide in a bush, or kill them. You can actually sneak past zombies unlike in the SA.

I just started playing the mod 2 weeks ago, and man! so many times i thought, "Hey why isn't this as good in standalone?"

I'm not speaking of vehicles either, i know there's too many of that cliche going around. "the mod's the best! there's vehicles!" blah blah. I know you're all working on the vehicles.

I'm talking about the smaller things.

"Missing" is not a thing, "Waiting to be added with better code" is a thing.

Thought about engine problems and non compability of the data from mod and SA?

Why wouldn't they be compatible with the standalone engine? Aren't they both one of the same? i thought SA was just the Arma 2 engine but modified. That's why it's still published by Bohemia.

Nah, I think it's Infusion-Engine ;)

Because the code is different between the mod and standalone, enough that copying and pasting would require re-writing so much code that they might as well just write it from scratch, which is what they're doing, with different underlying focus.

I just watched Dean Hall's video from pax and it turns out they're already doing what i just suggested.

So this thread is no longer relevant.

Mod feel free to close this ticket.
