In the last game I played, I had a map and compass, and my location and facing direciton was marked with a yellow circle and line. In addition to that, my team mates were marked in orange and labelled as survivors. This is very unrealistic, and quite immersion damaging due to the way in which it can completely destroy the stealth part of the game.

We have not noticed this before, but suspect it may just be on particular servers. Unfortunately I do not have the name of the server we were on (it would be helpful to have this displayed on the player list menu).
