It says you are too far away. Looks like the server does not save the position after sliding.
Relogging will make the corpse appear where the animal has died. There you can skin it.

Steps To Reproduce

Force a Deer to jump downhill causing its death. Follow the sliding corpse and try to skin it after it has stopped moving.

Additional Information

Very possible this happens to slided player corpses aswell.
