When the HUD is disabled **using the default key binding of ** (long press ` (- tilde key) the item in the survivor's hand is still displayed in the bottom left corner. When in a vehicle, disabling the HUD in this way, disabling the HUD with the tilde key still shows the car's HUD controls as well as car interactions (start engine, open/closer door).
This breaks immersion for players who are filming cinematics or players and/or streamers who want a clean HUD.
TheA **partial** workaround (see as to why below)exists. That workaround is to disable the HUD in the game options menu. It's a partial fix because it has some undesirable effects. However**First and foremost, this has certain very undesirable side effect **because the game's menu has changed how it behaves when disabling both the HUD as well as the Quickbar (QB)because the game's behavior has changed when disabling the HUD/Quickbar (QB) from the menu as opposed to the key bindings**. I'm not sure if these game options changes are planned or themselves a bugThis change in behavior may have been planned or itself is a bug but I'd not seen anything relatable in the patch notes. Read fFor more detailse on that specifically below in thchange in behavior see **//"Issues wWith Game options HUD/QB Settings"//** in additional information.
Getting back to this workaround. It still has its own issues. Even if you disable the HUD in the game options, when you enter a vehicle, the lower lefthand area still shows the car's HUD.
Furthermore, once you exit the vehicle you then start to see the stamina bar and noise indicators and there is no way (i.e. long press tilde does not work) to disable them without going into the game options again. To fix that display issue you have to effectively force the game to "refresh" the UI settings by changing any game options setting (i.e. change and apply any UI element such as the crosshair, server messages, QB, or even the HUD itself. Though I should note that toggling the HUD requires you toggle and apply 2x if you want to keep the HUD disabled).bug and the associated workaround though:
In the end it will be most helpful to watch my linked unlisted YT video.

**Issues with Game options HUD/QB**
Previously - **Even if you disable the HUD in the game options**, disabling either the HUD or QB in the game options still allowed the player to bring those UI elements upwhen you enter a vehicle, albeit for a few seconds. They would auto-hide after a few seconds (like the Windows autohiding task bar). This was much preferred UX to what they do now where the tilde key does nothingthe lower lefthand area still shows the car's HUD.
- If you do disable the HUD in the game options and then enter/exit the vehicle you start to see the stamina and noise indicators and there is no way to hide them (i.e. That makes it impossible to bring up those status indicators without going back into the game options and enabling them directlylong press tilde does nothing). While a player may be disabling thoseThe only solution at that point is to for immersion, they are still the only way to check on vitals like hunger,ce the game to "refresh" those options by **toggling any game options setting** (i.e. temperaturechange **and** apply any UI element such as the crosshair, etc.server messages, In shortQB, the pervious functionality was much preferred as it gave a quick way to check on those vital statsor even the HUD itself. I will log a separate issue for that and reference it here: [[ https://feedback.bistudio.com/T170698| T170698]]Though I should note that toggling the HUD requires you toggle and apply 2x if you want to keep the HUD disabled).
In short,In the end it will be most helpful to watch my linked unlisted YT video. Bear in mind I made it while sick with the flu... if this change in behavior of the HUD/QB game options was an **intentional design change** it is not desirable.
To tie that back to this bug though, at a minimum the issue of disabling the HUD when those UI elements are enabled in the game options needs to be addressed so that this workaround is not required. And I again stress that this workaround doesn't work for vehicles. ;)
