Follow this steps:
1) Be sure, that all places of your inventory are full with items.
2) Take a first aid kit from the floor in your hand.
3) Target an non-medical item on the ground (the size must fit into the first-aid-kit)
4) Choose "Take ..." or just do right click.
The item is now placed in the first-aid kit. (see screenshot)
