This also happens to vehicles, the weapon cannot be grabbed from the gear, the vehicle can be entered (can also be entered and exited) and the weapon can then be grabbed. This happens everytime to every vehicle tried on so far, but as it is easily fixed it is just a nuisance at the moment and not a big priority.
