We wish to formally address the current status of the mods previously authored by Terje and to clarify expected steps for the community going forward.
**User Responsibility and Warning:**
Users are hereby formally warned not to re-upload any version of the Terje mods that contain obfuscation, DRM mechanisms, or any tooling that could be used maliciously to gain access to cheating utilities or similar exploitative features. These mods have been banned by the moderation team. When uploading content to the Workshop, users are required to understand and take full responsibility for the files they share. Any violations will be subject to appropriate sanctions.
**Enforcement Actions:**
Users who re-uploaded these mods after their ban have had enforcement actions taken against them. We strongly urge the community to exercise greater caution. Bans are issued for valid reasons; once content is banned, it is prohibited in any form on the platform. "Banned" means it is not allowed under any circumstances, not merely removed from listings.
**Reason for Bans:**
The bans were enacted primarily due to the inclusion of malicious DRM, exposure of hacking and cheating tools, and efforts to conceal these elements through obfuscation. These behaviors constitute clear breaches of our Terms of Use and End User License Agreements (EULAs). Later investigations also revealed unauthorized monetization of these mods.
**Permanent Ban Notice:**
Given the severity of these violations, the user responsible has received a permanent ban and is not eligible for appeal.
**Clarification of Enforcement Scope:**
We would like to clarify that our moderation actions were strictly limited to the user’s mods on the Steam Workshop. We did not remove or interfere with the user’s GitHub repositories or any other service servers. Any issues elsewhere were not caused by actions taken by our team.
**Further Warning for Modders:**
Modders are cautioned not to use previously distributed content described as “open source” from the user’s GitHub, especially where it is packed or obfuscated. If such content is found in your Workshop submissions, enforcement actions will be taken. You must remove these materials from your mods immediately to avoid penalties.
**Community Offer for Content Usage:**
The banned author will remain permanently barred and is not permitted to participate in any DayZ mod projects in the future. However, we are willing to permit the community to use the previously banned author’s content if it is truly made open source, all problematic elements are removed, and proper permissions are in place to allow continued development by the community.
We appreciate your cooperation and we are understanding of disturbances this has created, but we must ensure that the community is safe. Thank you for expressing your concerns as we work on towards procuring a fair and secure community environment.
