When you get out of the Turret of Tayran or Darter, you only see the Driver/Pilot view when opening picture in picture with Tab. Usually, depending which seat you're in, you see the particular view in the pic in pic overlay.. I did it all the time in the past, it always worked..Haven't used the UAV for a while, seems like it's broken since the latest stable built..
