I do think there is some voodoo here. I was having this exact issue on empty servers. Hard to say it was due to proximity to 'gliched characters'. I had flashing inventory before crash. No flashing inventory upon restart. Inventory was flashing just before crash.

I have only had this issue today. I was playing just fine for a few hours today, then it started. I had to quit out. I could no longer play.

I had pre-patch character during this patch. No issue. I had SKS during this patch. No issue. I had painted M4 during this patch. No issue.

I did notice one thing that was new and it does coincide with the onset of this issue. That is about drinking cans of pop. When I did not put them into inventory, but just drank them from the world, I began having inventory issues. I seemed to have empty and unusable slots in my inventory. Upon relogging, I saw that my inventory was full of empty pop cans with a remaining total of 0% contents. They were what was in the unusable inventory spots. They had become invisible.

I will say that drinking from the environment is also a habit that I only just began today. I realized it was possible and began hauling those babies back. Then the glitch.

So that is my addition to the voodoo.

Frankly, I would like more complex objects. I want GRAPHICS, GRAPHICS, GRAPHICS. This is called a VIDEO game, not a SMELL-eo game or a HEAR-eo game. I want to see cool shit in my games. If you cannot run DayZ, you don't have a gaming PC.

It is not that you should not get what you want, but I am saying that I really hope game devs continue to push the envelope and increase graphical complexity. It just means that you will have to suffer with compromised capability into the future.

There needs to be some indication that I can type there. None of my friends knew that either. One friend was walking around with the name PLAYER 1. Frankly, I noticed it because I found a Youtube video.

You can just type it any time you like. Your name will change ingame immediately. It maybe defaults to some weird place like my OS, but I can change it at will. This is good. However, it is still dumb. It certainly should default to something relevant. Steam name will do. AND, as I CAN type it, there should be some indication that I can type there. An invitation of sorts; or instruction.

Oh. I am so jealous! You got out!!! LOL!

I didn't! I ran up on that door for like an hour! I had my friends coming, so I kept at it! LOL! DANG! I had to kill my super-vet character. :'(

Believe me, killing me was not our first idea. I tried all of what you did and way more! I did the leaning bit. I crawled fast, slow, jumped, ran, charged, walked, leaned, ran, leaned, punch-ran...

Good eye on the bedroom doors or whatever. Folding into the wall like that.

My friends came to see about helping the sitution. They had no answer to the problem. What we tried:

KILLING ME!

The hope was to be able to move the body or when I revived, the animation to move the body to the next room. Slim hope, but hope. We learned something else: The door is a wall! While standing inside the main building, my friends were unable to shoot me via the jail cell door. They had to go outside and shoot me through the window. This is very odd, as my friend was able to extract three bags of blood from me in the meantime, via the jail cel door.

Ways to solve this issue:

  1. Server log and wall glitch
  2. Make the door glitch you through the wall
  1. Put this on the list for the NEXT patch.

Most likely method:

Oh, by the way, Bohemia Interactive only makes killer rocks. It is not new. It is a very old 'glitch'. It should be fixed. The same happens in Arma 2 and Arma 3. Rocks kill.

I was thinking. Really. All other clothing items have inventory slots. The holster is not a good inventory carrier, but I think it should have at least one inventory slot available. I mean, it is either the holster OR the pillow jacket and it is the holster OR the tactical vest. So, the holster has ZERO function in a low-inventory situation. It will be bypassed when gearing up.

I fully agree. Doors should make some amount of noise. Perhaps it should be on a very small radius. Perhaps you can only hear the sound from within 10 yards or something. But doors make noise. I would like to know that someone came into the building I am inside of while I am upstairs eating. He can hear me eating, ans so he should. But I need to be able to hear him enter the doors too. It would only be fair.

I'll bet the canteen is trying to go into the force fed person's inventory.

When you finish eating, the item leaves your hand and takes a spot in your inventory. When you finish force feeding, the can is probably trying to enter to the other person's inventory.

Just a thought...

Yes. The hotbar only recognizes one inventory item of each type. I have noticed it with other items. The inventory bar seems to select only the first item of that type in inventory. Even if you want to have two programmed so you can control your inventory a little better, still, the slot is associated with the first item of that type. I think I even noticed this when the item had been placed on teh floor. The item was showing in the VICINITY box. I had put it down, but because it was within reach, it was showing as available in the inventory bar. I will try to look at this again next time I play and report back...

I have switched my vote. Although I do believe that blood loss is always due to something, I have now come to understand that the regen blood function is likely broken. I ran an experiment to see.

First, I was with a group of friends. We were all topped up on health. The picture was beautiful and colourful. So far as any of us could notice, we were all in pristine condition. So, we blood bagged each other. This was supposed to be so we could put our own blood in our packs and use it when we needed it. The plan following was to rummage around and find food and drink and let our blood regen. Our colour had all whited out somewhat, but not all the way. We did log out at that point.

The next time I logged in, I did nothing. I went for a run from Elektro to Stary and back. The server was empty, so no danger. Just zombies. I axed a few of those. No damage taken. When I left Elektro, I was in the condition that I was in after blood bagging. When I arrived in Stary, I found and drank about a dozen sodas and sat around, eating and drinking and resting and looting. Very little running or sprinting, soas to conserve ENERGY required to regen blood.

We then ran back to Elektro. Here I did the same. I found food and water and sodas and ate and drank some. I do not believe that I ate and drank excessively or conservatively. I ate and drank a fair amount. I got up to the new house on the hill on way out of town to the North, where there is a fountain. I stayed there and just drank water and ate some food. I kept going to the back of the house and resting and coming back out to drink. Water was full, food was full. Energy, after all the sodas, food, and rest, should have been full. The time spent in full rest mode, at this house, was likely near to 2 hours of actual in-game time. I definitely think that should have been enough to regen energy, thereby enough to regen health.

All this to top up blood after a precautionary blood bag was consumed. My friend points out that donating a pint of blood at the Red Cross requires naught more than some orange juice and a cookie to recover from. If you even need that!

I have logged 30 hours or so. I run with 5 or 6 others. None of us have experienced greying for no reason. As I have not experience it without cause, I am inclined to think most of you are injured or sick or desperately hungry/thirsty/tired and not aware of it.

As I have not experienced this, I have had to vote this down. I understand that makes me the one, but...

... we felt like it was for no reason at first, but we started to realize it was always related so something.

Server hopping is a fundamental mechanic of playing DayZ. I agree with many of the comments in terms of restrictions on it, but it must never leave. If it leaves, the entire game play style changes. We will need a reward system instead of just scrounging for loot.

I hate the timer, I have been bitten by the timer too many times. I do like what happened in the mod; 30 seconds from pushing log out to actually logging out. This does eliminate combat logging, which is what most people are interested in policing. I also support no logging out in towns/near loot spawns. That way, you must travel to the loot spawn and away again. The mod also handled this reasonably; no loot spawned within a radius of you. I don't know what that radius was, but I always felt it could have been larger.

Forcing players to remain solely on one server will not function. In order to maintain a high population on one server, you need to have a much higher population of people associated with it. If you like to play on a 40 man server, you will need to have about 400 people associated with it. Some will log on for an hour here and there. Some for 10 hours every day. Some for an hour every 3 weeks. If you decide to play on that day when everyone else decides to play, you don't get to, because the server is full. Now you have 2 choices. Don't play DayZ or create a new character. Not playing DayZ creates disinterested players and a decline in player base. Creating a new player creates unhappy players which creates a decline in player base.

We want all this benevalence for 'purity' but we must remember that it is a GAME and it is supposed to be FUN. Sometimes realism must give way to FUN in order to maintain the business side.

It is a feature. It is clonky, though.

I think maybe there are some things that should not even get to go there. Like food? I don't like having to remove the soda and orange and banana either. I do like that other things stay there. For example, earlier today my friend needed a pistol, so I gave him mine. My inventory listing went grey. About 5 minutes later, I replaced my pistol with a new one. And it was still available off the bar. I was happy to not have to reset that.

I will say that I have played about 30 hours already. In my first 10 hours, this was a much larger problem than it has been in the last 20. Recently, I have had no difficulty.

Wow! From report #363 to comment #57210. It would seem that 57000 other things have taken place and this is still not addressed. It was even escalated once! This must be one of the most difficult bugs ever written into a game! I hope you solve it soon, you must have several people on this buy now, hey, Bohemia? Jeepers. Good Luck!

DayZ's platform is a hybrid Arma2 and Arma3 platform. This happens in Arma3 quite a bit. You get out of it by lying down and crawling out of the foundation of the building.

I was stuck in the floor of a building in DayZ recently, so I tried what works in other Bohemia titles and I crawled out of the floor no problem.

That does not mean the problem does not need to be fixed. It just means I was able to recover from a glitch easily.

Disabling Post Processing is not a good option for fixing the lamp. The lamp needs to work with Post Processing ON. Post Processing has a function in this game and should never be turned off. PP allows for screen blurring when you are not healthy and/or dying. You will not have the full feedback required to correctly interpret your health condition if PP is OFF.

Also... how is this item now classified as NEED MORE INFORMATION? There is tons of information here. Now the devs need to fix it. Lots of armchair devs making calls here. (No offense to any of you, and good sleuthing to all of you). Now the real devs need to solve it.
