Clear communication via microphone is absolutely essential. Reading chat messages takes time and can be overlooked - but what you say directly into a microphone goes straight into your ear and is much more effective.
The radio system is currently being expanded with relays to extend the network. The size of the radio - whether it is a small or large model - makes no real difference in this set-up.
Problems arise when the relays are deactivated or you are operating outside their range - especially with aerial reconnaissance units.
As a pilot, I often have to carry the large radio backpack, which is bulky and still doesn't always provide the necessary range or sound quality.
Many vehicles are equipped with built-in radios. These should be accessible to the driver:
- look at the radio - connect
- switch on and select the frequency
- start transmitting via the vehicle radio
In this way, the vehicles practically become mobile radio stations - just like in real life.
Vehicles such as LAVs, BRDMs, BTR-70s, helicopters - everything that operates far ahead of their own ranks - should definitely have access to vehicle radios (as they are already visible now - only this is pure decoration) in order to close communication gaps.
