Hey!
I made a ticket about this a couple years ago...But with todays article from the devs it was revealed that they have brought on some new "audio team" who will be working on a firearms overhaul and a bunch of other audio related stuff.
So I would like to bring up this suggestion again and see what the audio team thinks about it!
The suggestion is basically this :
Increase the volume *and* audible range of bullet impacts for players to hear.
Bullet impacts in DayZ right now are very very quiet and unrealistic, you only really hear bullet impacts when they are right next to you and even then, they are only small little thuds.
IRL, bullet impacts (especially on surfaces like metal, glass and wood) are actually very loud.
Making the bullet impacts louder in game would be a nice touch to realism but also a HUGE touch to the immersion and "tenseness" of PVP. In Escape From Tarkov for example, bullet impacts are much louder, so when somebody is shooting at you and you hear the shots landing all around you it feels really really cool and immersive / realistic. This would be a really sick addition to DayZ imo
Here is a small example of a bullet impact IRL (A VSS shooting at a steel target) Listen to just how loud the sound of the round hitting the metal actually is. In many cases IRL you can hear bullet impacts from even up to potentially beyond like 100m depending on what you hit.
In this video, just watch the first couple seconds of the intro where they are firing the suppressed weapons at the steel targets.
