I was in a fight with several infected and my pistol shots with the Mlock-91 (silencer equipped) just disappeared into "thin air ". I fled into a house and tried to fix the problem. I refilled the magazine, but the problem persisted. A few minutes later I tried to shoot an infected person again and it worked. A few minutes later the same problem occurred again and the shots disappeared into thin air.
