Base Building needs to be worth it!
New, UrgentPublic

Description

Currently there is a massive amount of time put into building a base on official servers, but the reward of taking the time to do so and try to "settle down" in an area to build community isn't possible due to a few key issues. I have had thousands of hours playing your game even through all the bugs and issues and really truely believe this will help take the game to the next level!

#1. Swimming under the map needs to be 100% fixed. Easiest way to accomplish this, is if a character is logging out in the water, they should be prompted with the same prompt as logging out while knocked out. For game emersion it doesn't make sense for a character to "go to sleep"/log out in water. It is very difficult to "accidentally" get pushed through the ground to exploit this glitch. This make soft-side raiding wayyy to easy, and really is game-breaking.

2. From what I can tell, once youve placed down a fence kit, the engine completely blocks out the areas where parts of that wall may be built (platform, barb wire, stairs, etc), even if that part isn't currently there. This adds way to many restrictions and prohibits creative defensive building (such as back to back walls to prevent soft side raiding, back to back barb wire to create a denial to an attack vector when getting raided).

3. All Combo Locks re-work (keypads would be amazing, but working with what we have for right now). For combo-locks that you have already entered the code into once, instead of having to click through each digit, it would be great if there was a faster way to open. I agree it shouldn't be instant, but maybe a 4 second cast to auto-enter it. I cant tell you how many times I have been shot because I was messing with a lock for 8-10 seconds because I missed a number. Since when you are opening a combo lock with nothing in your hands, the combo lock should go to your hands when completing the combo, this would remove the step of picking it up off the ground prior to entering and speed up the process

#4. Tier 2 base building. With how difficult and annoying it is to lug sheet metal to your base with out a car, or even with having to have a car to realistically do it unless you are lucky, metal walls should take far more damage than wood walls before getting through. My thought would be leave wood at 5 nades, metal at 10 nades, and tier 3 at 15-20 nades (tier 3 explained below).

#5. Tier 3 base building. For us try-hards and addicts, there should be a third tier of base building (stone or concrete). I was working on a Mod for PC for this, but lack the knowledge and experience to do it sadly. My thought is that you would have to build a tier 2 wall, then upgrade it using a lot of rare, annoying or just plain hard to get materials (small stones, a lot of epoxy putty, big stones, etc), and if using concrete, using the slabs of concrete that litter construction areas (should need a car to move it with out breaking your legs).

#6. More Modular base building. I think that more options with base building should be put into the game. What I recommend:

-Watch tower 2nd and 3rd floor should have and option to build with out the hole for the stairs (it's a weak point a raided can exploit and not always needed).
-Watch towers should allow you to build a roof on the first and second floor (Would add more creativity and diversity in base builds).
-Walls should have the option for 1/3 the size, or 2/3 the size (since the model is already broken up into three sections).
-These should also be able to be made into gates that size.
-Be able to build a stand alone ladder, like what's on the watch tower as long as the legs are touching the ground and there is two points of contact on the top.
-Add more craft able compact storage items such as a chest that could be much bigger than the dinky 50 storage from crates. Maybe even adding a craftable base-building storage item like a plank pile you can add planks to for quick base repairs after being raided. Being able to through a combo lock on storage as well would be great :)
