For some bizarre reason, de-sync has been made even worse as now when you're de-synced rather than being able to just swap to a different item, the de-synced item gets stuck in your hands, essentially soft locking your character. If this happens in PvP you're guaranteed to die. This didn't used to be the case and I am struggling to wrap my head around the logic behind this change. When de-synced you can also no longer interact with your inventory, which is also impossible for me to understand why.
