I have noticed on numerous occasions that when you try and sneak up on a zombie to knife it in the back and get to close you become stuck on them and can't perform any melee.

Yes, happens about every hour or so. There will always be at least one zombie that I can't silent kill or melee due to being stuck to them for a few seconds. Now I have experienced this not only while doing silent kill but also with just a melee attack.
