Sometimes when you have something in your hand or if you don't I think it might even go in your backpack but it's most prevalent when something's in your hand especially something that can hold something else in it anyway whenever you press back to go into your inventory and look at your shoes to check the durability for example whenever you press back or be to get out of the menu it'll take your shoes off and put them either in your backpack or the thing you were carrying it's rather annoying a good way to fix this in game is to drop what you're holding put your shoes from your pack into your hand and then press y to equip them it usually doesn't do it again because otherwise it'll keep doing it every time you put your shoes back on if you were to press wide directly from the thing in your hand when you're still holding it once you press back or be again it will take your shoes off again it'll keep doing it
