Feature Request: IR Strobe (Ally Identification)
New, UrgentPublic

Description

Hi,

I know we have armbands for rudimentary identification purposes within the game which is awesome! But I got to thinking the other day after talking with some friends about ally identification and how hard it is, especially for someone like myself whom is colourblind.

In the military they have IR strobes or infra-red strobes that allied forces wear on their plate carriers or vests. These strobes are detectable by digital IR and NVG tech displaying a pulsating light allowing the wearer to clearly show their position to allied forces.

What if IR strobes were added to the game?

Hear me out, so they would function closely to their IRL counterparts but they would have a few minor tweaks.
The strobes would be programmable to a Freq just like radios but one defined by the users, not preset.

This frequency would stop other players with IR or NVG equipment from being able to observe the strobes of other groups without searching through or knowing the frequency of that group in question.

These strobes would need to be found in and or around military installations or on military zombies.

They would run off of a 9v battery, adding in a dynamic of maintenance, if you don't keep an eye on your battery you could end up getting shot by a team mate and If damaged they could be repaired by an electrical repair kit.

Further to this the IR Strobe would be mounted to a backpack strap or plate carrier just like a radio or glow stick.

And finally, the IR Strobe would pulse when viewed by IR or NVG tech just like IRL but more importantly the players nameplate will also be displayed above them, along with a relative distance in (metres).

I think this would be an awesome addition to the game and would love to hear if anyone else has some thoughts on it.

Regards,
Sir.
