It contained: a pristine radiator a, spark plug and a car battery; 3 pristine tires and 1 ruined tire (front left); 160 slots worth of loot; no doors, no hood, no trunk door.

I was driving the car (still drivable, although with a ruined tire) until it eventually became ruined and the engine died - luckily close to a second car I planned on repairing with the parts and loot I was carrying in this car.
I left the ruined and smoking Gunter on the road and walked no more than 100 meters to the second car; around 2 minutes after, I returned to the same road only to find that the Gunter had disappeared, together with all the loot and car parts I had collected and planned on using to fix the second vehicle. Interesting though, right on the spot it disappeared there were 3 short sticks (as if dropped there).

I must add that I lost around 8 hours of gameplay - losing a jerrycan, radiator, tires, spark plugs and batteries that were either attached or in the trunk of the car - due to this apparently obvious and still unfixed bug!
