PS4 Frame Rate Lag and Workaround
New, UrgentPublic

Description

Hi,

I know you folks have acknowledged and are working on the PS4 issue where the frame rates will suddenly drop to a noticeable stutter after the 1.07 update but I thought I should let you know about a workaround I found that helps mitigate it. Perhaps this will help in the identification of the root cause and potential fix.

I noticed most frame rate drop occur after accessing your inventory, the inventory of containers (e.g. dead bodies, vehicles, barrels, etc.) and (I believe) sometimes when viewing loot in the game world. However, if you push the R1 button (item wheel) when experiencing a drop, this will return the frame rate back to normal.

I also noticed you can tap the R1 button after accessing your inventory for instance and this seems to reven a frame rate event from occurring. I have been using this workaround consistently and although it's annoying to have to do this, it works and I'm hoping this is of use to you folks while we wait for a fix.

All you have to do is access your inventory and running afterward seems to make the issue much more noticeable. R1 will instantly stop the frame rate drop in every case I've tried it.

Hi Kean, I'm another player. That sounds interesting- I'll try that. What I've been doing is testing out different resolution settings and RGB range. I set my ps4 Pro to 1080p with limited RGB. No super sampling. It seems to be about as smooth as i can get it, I get random drops too. I know the ps4 pro has sufficient hardware to run DayZ decently (not max settings) so it's a matter of time to optimize the game for it.

Just to reiterate, this is the frame rate reduction /events that started occurring after the 1.07 update. The R1 (item wheel prompt) seems to work for those I know have been using it. In each case, it has stopped the stuttering immediately. My hope is that this information may help devs in some small way to identify and/or resolve the issue. ....although they may already realize this themselves.

The game on a whole still suffers from issues that I think are obvious optimization difficulties they've been struggling with since release. .....but this issue in particular has to do with some change they made in 1.07 that specifically causes this problem. One that they've already acknowledged through a Twitter response I read so I'm assuming they are already working toward a fix.

Hey, i had the same stuttering issue and noticed that the game runs a lot smoother if you 'hide' everything in your inventory. This stuttering clearly has sthg to do with the inventory. Hope this helps and thank you for the item wheel tweak! Let's just hope devs will play their own game and notice this... Cheers
