I was running from 2-3 infected when my HUD disappeared and lost all control and stood still froze in place. I watched my fully geared character die and when I respawned in with no issues and traveled to the same location, my old character wasn't there to be looted just 20ish mins later. Location was at the town/base just down the road southwest from Sitnik on the Livonia map at that 3way road stop near the jeep, tank and crater in the ground in the middle of the road.
