Some items in dead players clothes/bag cannot be taken to hands by pressing X nor taken straight to inventory by pressing "square" even after checking that there is space in the inventory. These items are stuck on the dead player even though they show up on your screen. I've noticed that you can fix this by logging out and logging back in with the bag or clothes in your hands, but this sometimes causes some items to appear in the bag or disappear as if they were never there to begin with. It seems there is an issue with items in a players inventory not being consistent and showing up the same for all players, this can be quite serious if the item is a weapon or a gun.
