When holding an item (such as a can, clothing, burlap) that is combinable with a knife that is equipped to boots, you must either drop the knife on the ground or hold the knife in your hand and combine it with the food item. It would be much more convenient to not need to drop the knife on the ground from your boots to combine. I have lost a few knives by either forgetting I dropped it or have to scramble because I was being attacked and couldn't pick it back up.
