When you kill a player and proceeded to loot there body some times the game bugs out and doesn't allow you to pick up items of the body of the dead player.
Re-logging does not help this
We all had 60 slots available to carry the loot and still couldn't take anything of him

had that happen to me. I was able to finally get the loot by taking each piece of gear off the dead body and taking the items out while their jacket or bag was i n my hands. try that next time it happens.
Another thing that works sometimes is to hold square to drop the items out of the bag or split by pressing triangle on stackables.
Remember that not all ruined items can be taken.
