When holding any sort of container/clothing in your hands that has items inside of it, attempting to drop the items directly from the container to the ground does not work. Whereas you should be able to hold Y to drop the items, doing so just moves the items from the held container to your inventory. It seems the game doesn't recognize anything but tapping Y when you're selecting items in a held container.
